About

The Chamber of Commerce is a not-for-profit organization representing the interests and concerns of local businesses. Through the Gibsons Chamber of Commerce, members access benefits, partnerships, and networking opportunities. Most importantly, the Chamber of Commerce routinely advocates to local, Provincial and Federal governments on behalf of its members to ensure that their concerns are being heard. The Gibsons Chamber of Commerce –is the local Voice of Business in BC - giving the business community a presence locally and provincially.

The Chamber puts a strong emphasis on supporting the interests of small business; small businesses account for an estimated 98% of registered businesses in BC. 95% employ fewer than 20 people.

What we do.

The Gibsons & District Chamber of Commerce is part of the BC Chamber of Commerce (The Chamber) which is registered under the Societies Act (British Columbia) as a volunteer, not-for-profit association and serves its members as the provincial federation of autonomous community chambers of commerce, boards of trade and corporate members.

Known to have been in operation as early as March 1867, The Chamber was re-established in 1951 to promote and improve trade, commerce and the economic and social welfare of the people of British Columbia, and to develop and present a true cross-section of opinions of the BC business community to the provincial government and, in some areas of national importance, to the federal government. 

Advocacy

The BC Chamber of Commerce is the premier business advocacy organization in the province.

Through a unique policy development process grounded in a grassroots, result orientated analysis of issues and solutions from locally based stakeholders the BC Chamber is widely accepted as the only organization capable of providing real solutions to real problems.

The Chamber runs a number of programs to support our members in their work. From small businesses, to local Chambers of Commerce, we can help you to develop your operations and provide you with new opportunities.
