The Better Business Bureau also handles consumer complaints and provides mediation and arbitration services.

The Consumers Association of Canada maintains a list of industry-specific organizations that provide consumer information and assistance, for example with automobiles, banking, food, housing or air travel.

If a problem cannot be resolved, there is the option of going to Small Claims Court, which deals with amounts under $25,000. It’s advisable to talk to a lawyer first, to determine whether this is your best option and how strong your case is.
